Cocktails win out over wine on the beach, especially since I just can't find a love, or like, for white wine, and beer disagrees with my digestive system. I have thoroughly enjoyed tasting and ranking the Mai Tai's along Waikiki Beach, placing The Royal Hawaiian's and House Without a Key on the top of the podium, thus far. I haven't had one at The Tropics yet, which may be very good. On the topic of drinks, I had "the best" margarita at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and was completely unimpressed. It wasn't good at all, was small, and very overpriced, but I digress.
Wine has accompanied many meals at various restaurants around Honolulu. We've been treated to a fair number of nice bottles of wine by a man that Jeff works with. This gentleman happens to have studies wine and owns a vineyard, and therefore, has much more of a nose for wine than me.
One of the first items Jeff and I stopped to peruse at the grocery store was the wine. Yes; wine is sold at grocery stores here!! Hallelujah! I also grabbed some cheese, honey, and crackers to round out the evening. I could hear the wine opener calling my name even before we put all the food away.
While Jeff fought with the external speakers to the TV, I spun my wine glass, reminded myself how I love cheese, and sighed as the sun set on the Pacific.
